Mr. Comis
earned a bachelor's degree in biochemistry from the University of California in
1975, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and as a Phi Beta Kappa. He earned his
law degree from the University of California at Davis in 1978, where he was
awarded the Order of the Coif and three American Jurisprudence awards. He is a
member of the Real Property Steering Committee for the Ventura County Bar
Association, and has served on the Board of Trustees of the Ventura County Law
Library since 1989, and has taught real property, contracts and business entity
courses. Mr. Comis practices primarily in the fields of real property, business
and corporate law.
A graduate of
California State University at Northridge and the Loyola University of Los
Angeles School of Law (J.D. 1971), Mr. Kahn served as Assistant City Attorney
and City Prosecutor for the City of Beverly Hills, as well as City Attorney for
the City of Simi Valley. He has served on the Boards of Directors of the Ventura
County Bar Association, the Ventura Chapter of the Building Industry Association
of Southern California, Inc., and the Economic Development Collaborative -
Ventura County, and is a past president and current board member of the Ventura
County Economic Development Association. Mr. Kahn’s practice is focused
primarily in the fields of public law, land use, development, real property, and
commercial and business law.
Mr.
Nelson earned his undergraduate degree from the University of California at Los
Angeles and his law degree from the University of Southern California. For the
last twenty years he has practiced in a wide range of civil law, emphasizing
business litigation, real property law and family law. In family law, the
California Bar Association has designated him a Board Certified Specialist. In
addition to handling litigation, Mr. Nelson is a founding member of the
Collaborative Family Lawyers, Inc., an alternative dispute resolution process
keeping families out of court. Professionally, Mr. Nelson has served as Judge
Pro Tempore, volunteered time to the Legal Access Center, and has been elected
to the Boards of Directors of the Ventura County Bar Association (also serving
as Chairperson of the Real Property Section) and the Family Law Bar Association.
He has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the World Affairs Council
of Ventura County and currently serves as an elected Trustee of the Mesa Union
School District.
A
graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles, Mr. Schröeder received
his law degree from Loyola University of Los Angeles in 1973 and was admitted to
the California Bar that same year. He served for many years as a member of the
Legal Affairs Committee for the California Association of Realtors, and has
lectured for the California Continuing Education of the Bar and for the
Department of Real Estate on real property subjects. Mr. Schröeder practices
primarily in the fields of real property and general business law, real estate
and business litigation. He has particular expertise in all aspects of the
representation of automobile dealers including acquisition/sales, lemon law
litigation, New Motor Vehicle Board and daily operational matters.
As a 1962
graduate of the Boalt School of Law, University of California, Berkeley, Mr.
Whitfield brings to the firm years of experience in the general practice of law.
He is legal counsel for the Oxnard Harbor District which owns and operates the
deep water commercial port known as the Port of Hueneme. Mr. Whitfield practices
in the areas of public law, general business, real estate, construction,
business litigation, employment law, bankruptcy and appeals. He is a member of
the Ventura County Bar Association (Secretary in 1974), and in the California
Bar Association he has served on the Commercial Code and the Disciplinary
Committees. A 1953 graduate of Northwestern University, he served in active duty
as an aviator with the United State Navy before pursuing his career in law.
